Effective September 24, 2026.
Please read this carefully. Every skater, or for anyone under 18 their parent or legal guardian, must accept it before their first lesson with Skate Lessons with Paul. [CONFIRM: how acceptance is recorded, e.g. a signed copy or a checkbox on the invoice]
The Risks
Skateboarding is a physical activity with real risks, including falls, collisions with other people or objects, sprains, broken bones, head injuries and, rarely, serious or permanent injury. Lessons take place in public skateparks with hard concrete surfaces, ramps, ledges and other users that we do not control. Good coaching lowers these risks but cannot remove them.
What You Agree To
- You understand these risks and choose to take part, or to let your child take part.
- The skater is in good enough health to skate, and you have told Paul about any medical condition, injury or allergy that matters.
- The skater will follow Paul's instructions and the park's rules, and wear the protective gear required. [CONFIRM: the gear rule, e.g. a helmet at every lesson; pads for under-18s]
- The skater's board and gear are in safe working order.
- In an emergency, Paul may call emergency services and arrange first aid, and you are responsible for any resulting medical costs.
Release
To the fullest extent Florida law allows, you release Skate Lessons with Paul and Paul from claims for injury, loss or damage arising from the ordinary risks of skateboarding described above. This release does not cover gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
Florida law has specific requirements for waivers signed on behalf of minors (section 744.301, Florida Statutes). [CONFIRM: have a Florida attorney review this waiver, including the statutory wording for minors]
